Shine Systems Launch Enhanced Monitoring Solution

We have recently launched an enhanced version of our remote system monitoring solution "Shine UP!" which allows us to pro-actively monitor all aspects of our own and customers systems.

dashboard-smallThe "Shine UP!" system provides our engineers with a dynamic dashboard showing all aspects of our network and our customers servers.

One important aspect is the ability to pro-actively monitor all customers backups and other services running on their servers to ensure that everything is fully operational.

The system has been so successful that we are now rolling it out to all customers with a Shine Systems maintenance contract at no extra charge.

By monitoring our own network, we are also alerted to any issues which may effect our customers including monitoring of our Internet bandwidth to ensure that our hosted service customers receive the best possible service.

The dashboard is displayed on a large plasma display in a prominent location within our operations centre ensuring that engineers are quickly alerted to any error conditions.

Customers with Symantec Backup Exec software benefit from enhanced monitoring which will not only alert us to failed backup jobs but by utilizing a small "agent" installed on their servers we can automatically analyse the backup logs and be alerted if backups have not been run for more than a preset number of days. This allows us to be notified and take appropriate action when backup jobs 'freeze' or the backup software itself 'crashes'.

In addition, our remote agent sends status information back to our central monitoring system on all critical parts of your system including CPU/RAM/Disk usage and where available from your server, temperature, fan speed and health of any RAID arrays. This information is sent automatically every 15 minutes via a small encrypted 'packet' of data. Any critical failures (such as a failed drive in a RAID array) will be displayed as a scrolling message on our dashboard.
